Meet Hickory Nut Farm

What made you decide to become a farmer?

When I was a kid I used to pray and pray for a farm. I became an architect and my husband and I used to have our practice in York Maine - York River Architects. When I was 45 that quiet voice said ‘be patient you will have your farm’. Then when I was 54, He said ‘do it now or never’. I told Phil and he said let’s do it. My name is Donna-Lee Woods. Our farm is in Lee NH, we are surrounded by woods, and we live on York Lane. I thought we were going to raise sheep but thru a friend I fell in love in milking her goat. So here we are. 120 goats later.

What has been your biggest reward?

The greatest reward is knowing that we are providing healthy food, as goat milk is alkaline which helps keep our bodies balanced. I hear amazing stories from people that are benefiting from our Ladies milk.
